SPAN 20 also known as Sorbitan Monolaurate (SML), is a kind of amber to brown oily liquid at room temperature, it is non-toxic, odorless, and sticky normally; only a small amount can be dissolved in oil and organic solvent, insoluble in water, will be dispersed in water as a semi liquid emulsion.
Applications
Food grade SPAN 20 is mainly used as W/O emulsifier, stabilizer, lubricants, plasticizers and desiccant in food, medical and cosmetic industries, also can be used as softening agent, antistatic agent in textile industry, and can be used as lubrication agent in machinery etc.
